Am I Entitled to Any Government Benefits?
A claimant may be entitled to disability benefits under these programs:
However, in addition to meeting the medical rules for disability, a claimant must also meet the non-medical rules. In other words, a person who is medically disabled can still fall short of eligibility if he/she:
- Doesn't have enough work history (quarters of coverage) to qualify for Social Security Disability;
- Isn't poor enough to qualify for Supplemental Security Income;
- Doesn't qualify for Disabled Adult Child benefits because he/she doesn't have a parent who is retired, disabled, or deceased.
