Rehabilitation Act of 1973: Basic Federal-State Vocational Grants

Title I of the Act authorizes formula grants to designated state vocational rehab agencies to provide services. Funds can be used for:

  • Diagnosis and evaluation of rehabilitation potential
  • Counseling, guidance, referral, and placement services
  • Vocational and other training services
  • Physical and mental restoration services
  • Subsistence income maintenance during rehabilitation
  • Interpreter and reader services
  • Recruitment and training services to provide new employment opportunities in the rehab field
  • Technological aids and devices
  • Rehabilitation engineering services
