Medicaid: Services Optional to States
States may offer the following types of optional services if they are specified in the state's approved Medicaid plan:
- Private duty nursing services
- Clinic services
- Dental services
- Physical therapy, occupational therapy, and treatment for speech, hearing, and language disorders
- Prescribed drugs, dentures, prosthetic devices, and eyeglasses
- Other diagnostic, screening, and rehabilitative services
- Intermediate care facility services
- Inpatient psychiatric services for person older than 65 or younger than 21
- Case management services
- Home and community based services for frail elderly individuals
- Community supported living arrangements for persons with mental retardation and related conditions
- Any other type of care approved by the Secretary of Health & Human Services
