Higher Education Act
The Higher Education Act authorizes the Secretary of Education to establish and maintain funds at institutions of higher education through which low interest loans are awarded to needy students. These loans can be canceled if the student works in certain public service professions after graduation, including full time teaching of children with disabilities in a public or nonprofit elementary or secondary school system. This Act also authorizes loans and grants to institutions of higher learning for bringing facilities into compliance with the Architectural Barriers Act.
