Federal Employment for Individuals with Disabilities

As part of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, a Selective Placement Program was established, enabling the federal government to employ persons with physical or mental disabilities in positions for which they qualify. The major thrust of the program is to provide assistance to agencies related to

  • Referral
  • Placement
  • Special appointing authorities
  • Retaining federal employees who become disabled
